Capturing the Vibrancy of Local Shops Through Video Marketing with Georgetown Main Street

Georgetown Main Street (GMS) is a non-profit organization supporting small businesses in Georgetown. Social media is an opportunity to reach potential customers for Georgetown’s small businesses and foster an online community among Georgetown’s business owners and residents. Since February, Emma has been GMS’s content creator and social media manager, growing a thriving Instagram account promoting small businesses.

Repeat Exposure

Emma strategically decided to post each featured business on Instagram three times instead of just once. By posting multiple times, the audience became more familiar with the business and its offerings, increasing their likelihood of visiting the storefront. Studies have shown that repeated exposure to a brand can significantly increase customer retention rates, leading to increased sales and customer loyalty. By implementing this social media strategy, Emma and Georgetown Main Street were able to effectively promote and support local businesses while also strengthening the overall Georgetown community.

Reels and short-form video content help increase engagement and have a broader reach on Instagram. Emma told the stories of Georgetown’s small businesses and showcased their products and services with each reel. Each business’s personality and offerings differ, so each needs a different approach. Emma filmed content for a dine-in burger joint, a nail salon, an antique store, a high-end hotel restaurant, a concept store, a skincare shop, a grocery store, a juice bar, and many others.

Emma saw the owner's interactions with his customers and asked him to be on camera to capture the true essence of his beloved restaurant.
